Shreveport Real Estate 2008 Updated Home Sale Figures

The Northwest Louisiana Board of Realtors has released the official sale figures for 2008.  Shreveport/Bossier Sales were down over the last 2 years with an approximately 17% drop in total units sold.

It is interesting to note that while the total units were down 17% the total volume (Sales Price) went down only 15%.  So you might be saying what does that mean?  As I read the numbers, this means that the total number of house sales fell for 2008 in the Shreveport real estate market but the value of the houses that sold stayed pretty constant to 2007 prices.

This is good news for our market because while most of the country is experiencing falling prices, the Shreveport and Bossier City Real Estate market is still fairly solid.

Shreveport Real Estate 2008 Home Sale Figures

As some of you know I got my degree in Quantitative Management which is a combination of statistics and computer science.  So to say I like numbers is somewhat of an understatement.

With that being said, I also have the tendency to over do the reports so I am going to keep this short and sweet.

The year end numbers for Shreveport Real Estate-Residential are as follows:

Total house sales: 2254
Homes Sales Under $250,000: 1985
Home Sales Over $250,000:      269

As an "expert" in the Shreveport Real Estate market I will continue to inform you about what is going on in our town.  I will also learn how to use more of the tools I have at my disposal and make this more appealing.

Since this is a work in progress I will continue to tweak this blog until it is everything you want and expect from your Shreveport Real Estate expert.

Happy New Year for Shreveport Real Estate

Happy New Year Shreveport and Bossier City, this marks the 21st year I have been in Real Estate, all in The Shreveport and Bossier City market.

While the rest of the United States talks about the recession and how bad things are I wanted to "think on things of good report".  This is a great area to live and it is my home.

I wanted to announce a schedule for this blog for the year of 2009.

I will have a monthly update for Shreveport Real Estate this will consist of houses for sale and sold. It will show a general snapshot of the Shreveport Real Estate market.

I will also develop a template for Haughton, Benton and Bossier City Real Estate as well.  That is enough for now; I must get back to the bowl games, family and fiends.

Again, Happy New Year to everyone connected to real estate in the Shreveport Bossier City market.

What areas surrounding SHREVEPORT do you cover? Can you tell me a little about each?

Bossier City is a major city near Shreveport.  Bossier City is east of Shreveport and an area where I close approximately 50% of all my real estate contracts.  Bossier City has approximately 100,000 residents and is one of the fastest growing cities in Louisiana.

Haughton is just east of Bossier City and is a suburban or commuter community to the Shreveport area.

Benton is north of Bossier City it is also a suburban or commuter community to the Shreveport area as well.

All of these cities Bossier City, Haughton, and Benton are part of Bossier Parish.  Bossier Parish has lower overall property taxes than connecting Caddo Parish.
